WHAT IS FLATS MENTOR FARM?
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) works by community members "subscribing" to the CSA by signing up and paying the fee. Thoreau Club members can go directly to the World Farmers website and sign up there.
Each subscriber's "share" will be delivered to the Thoreau Club every Thursday from June 11th - October 24th, approximately between 1:00 - 3:00 pm for pick up. The weekly delivery will include seasonal staple crops such as lettuces, carrots, pea tendrils, kale, and tomatoes, for examples, and one ethnic crop with a corresponding recipe for inspiration - vegetables enough for a family of four for about a week.
Subscribing to the CSA directly supports the farmers of Flats Mentor Farm: 250+ farmers who are all immigrants or refugees. 84% of Flats Mentor Farmers are from Africa, and 64% of the farmers are women. Your subscription buys you vegetables picked fresh from the farm and supports the livelihood of the farmers.
