2018 MINUTEMAN SUMMER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

The Thoreau Sharks Swim Team is a fun and supportive swimming community. Our highly-trained coaches teach competitive swimming techniques, overall fitness conditioning and bring a spirit of fun to the pool.

SEASON DATES:

June 24th - August 3rd (Start date is subject to change based on school calendar) 

PRACTICE SCHEDULE: 

Monday to Thursday

Morning Practice 7:30am-9:00am

Evening Practice 5:00pm-6:00pm

You are welcome to attend any and all of the practices that fit your schedule.Your child may leave the morning practice early if they need to get to their Camp check-in. Our Coaches recommend you attend as many practices as you can.

Home meets begin at 5:30 for warm-up and 6:00 start

 

Championships: Saturday August 3rd @ 9:00am at Sudbury Swim & Tennis 

Your child MUST swim in at least two of the meets and four races to qualify for the championship meet 

  

SEASON DUES:

Thoreau Swim Members: $399.00

Community Members: $599.00

Sibling Discount: 10% off each additional sibling enrolled. Discount is taken off at time of payment.

THOREAU SHARKS ELIGIBILITY:

All swimmers must be able to follow direction from coaches in a large group setting and be able to swim the following:

  • 5-6 year olds: Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and without stopping. They must be able to float on their own and make forward progress. Minimum of Red Cross Level 3.
  • 7-8 year olds: Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and without stopping. We will be evaluating their freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Minimum of Red Cross Level 3.
  • 9-10 year olds: Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and without stopping. We will be evaluating their freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. Minimum of Red Cross Level 4.
  • 11-12 year olds: Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and without stopping. We will be evaluating their freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Minimum of Red Cross Level 4.
  • 13-14 year olds: Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and without stopping. We will be evaluating their freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Minimum of Red Cross Level 5.
  • 15-18 year olds: Swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly unassisted and without stopping. They must be able to swim 100 yards of freestyle without stopping. Minimum of Red Cross Level 5.
