9th & 10th Graders

CITs have made it to the top and are ready to be trained to be leaders!

Open to former Summer's Edge and Camp Thoreau campers only, the primary focus of the CIT Program is on learning how to responsible for others. There are two distinct levels within our CIT program:

  • CIT I (Campers In Transition): rising 9th graders may still have one foot in the world of day camp while also possessing the desire to do more. The CIT I program will help campers transition from camper to leader and begins to equip them with the tools necessary to take on added responsibility.

  • CIT II (Counselors in Training): rising 10th graders observe and take a more active role in working with a group of campers and counselor. CITs will be placed in groups and work with both group counselors and program areas throughout their session.
  • Both the CIT I and CIT II programs are by application and require a minimum of a 4-week commitment.

CITs will also enjoy dedicated group time with their fellow CITs and their CIT Mentor as they develop leadership skills and comradery. CITs are offered free-swim only and part of their training may include assisting with instructional swim.
