Aquatics Lifeguard

The Thoreau Club is actively recruiting Lifeguards to fill year round and seasonal positions. Become part of our member-centered, results driven team at a facility that our community takes pride in. Lifeguards have a unique opportunity to make an incredible and tangible impact in the community by preventing and responding to emergency situations and ensuring that our aquatics community operates at peak performance.

 

  • Full time, part time, or seasonal
  • Early morning, daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts available
  • Regular schedule
  • Free state of the art fitness, pool, and tennis membership
  • Free group fitness classes (over 60 per week)

Red Cross or equivalent lifeguarding certification required. 


Get Certified:

We offer Red Cross Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, and CPR certifications courses. All upcoming classes are listed on our website.

Job Description and Requirements

 

Our Lifeguards develop critical professional skills in customer service, problem solving, and a tenacity to constantly move their work forward. Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Lifeguards will check pool chemistry, complete light cleaning tasks, organize the pool deck, and any other necessary procedures. 

 

  • The position requires a reliable, self-sufficient, and responsible individual who can provide Thoreau Club members with a safe swimming experience.
  • Applicants should be comfortable with watching the pool alone. The Club provides communication devices to ensure that help will respond immediately in the event of an emergency.
  • They must be willing to work in a restricted and confined area. 
  • The individual should have some mechanical skills and be prepared to do physical work. 
  • Applicants must be able to interact with members in a polite manner, and ensure a positive and safe environment for all members. Work is reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.
