Tennis University Clinic Updates

*All registrations for Tennis University Clinics are final.*
In the past few months, we have noticed a new unfortunate trend developing in Tennis University clinic registrations. We see members signing up online or at the front desk and either taking themselves out at the very last minute or just not showing up. Sadly, it happens too often for us to ignore it. We have since disabled members' ability to unregister from Tennis University Clinics so that we can track and monitor them. At this time, we kindly ask all our Adult Tennis members to be mindful of the fact that space in clinics is limited and that we reserve 2 courts/2 pros for the time and often end up with only 3-4 players attending. If unsure of your plans, please allow other players an opportunity to play. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

Meet Our Highlighted Fitness Instructors of the Month

Jayne Schmitz
I have been a Pilates practitioner for many years. Most recently, I have studied mat-based coursework with Master Trainer Zayna Gold at Boston Body Pilates in Belmont and completed my certification as a Balanced Body Pilates Mat Instructor.

I hold a Master's degree in Public Health from Boston University. I currently work as a Wellness Project Manager for the Massachusetts Municipal Association in Boston. I also hold a black belt in Kenpo Karate.

I have always been passionate about maintaining a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise, eating well, and managing stress for myself and those around me. When I am not at work or teaching Pilates, I enjoy traveling to exotic places and spending time with my family and friends.

Pilates: Wednesday's 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

I'm a Physical Therapist at Newton Wellesley Hospital and also work at Thoreau as a Group Fitness Instructor. I am a specialist in orthopedics and like to treat sports medicine clients. I have also been certified through the NSCA (national strength and conditioning association) since 2000 as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist CSCS.

Happiness is a decision and a commitment like everything else in life, and your work has to be fun and enjoyable. I like the challenge of competition and doing something new each year, from Ultra Ragnar to Half-Marathon, Triathlon, Spartan, Tough Mudder, and more. I love being active and having fun with my wife, daughter, and dogs in the great outdoors. I feel good about helping people feel better at rehab and fitness levels. It is rewarding to me to see people make progress and make their own lives better.

My favorite quote: "Try not. Do, or do not...there is no try" It just means to go out and do exactly what you put your mind to doing, don't try to do it, go make it happen. Lastly, I love to learn, and I choose to surround myself with all of you who teach me something great every day. Five things to live by: Be positive. Set real goals. Never give up. Eat well. Have fun.
